DcubeD at the CubeSat Developers Workshop in CalPoly, SLO, California

DcubeD was at the CubeSat Developers Workshop 2022. The 3-day event taking place at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California, brought together the CubeSat community for the 16th time with the opportunity to network and exciting presentations on CubeSat innovation, including our colleague Dr Antonio Pedivellano, who presented the PowerCube and PowerSat project.

The workshop this year focused on the transformation in the space industry caused by the CubeSats, which initially had the purpose of making space more accessible to university students but extended far beyond that. Looking back at the last twenty years of accomplishments of CubeSat developers both from academia and industry, event this year aimed to imagine how to make the next twenty years even more exciting. In the conference was attended by industry experts, satellite developers and students, DcubeD was delighted to present “Design and Development of PowerCube: an Origami-Inspired 100W Solar Array for Nanosatellites”. In addition to presentations, event also offered Q&A sessions and exhibit booths. Our booth, as always, was fully equipped with DcubeD swag and German sweets.

Our colleagues Joram and Antonio used their time left at the Cal Poly to meet with the PowerCube team and review the progress towards our joint IOD mission of 1U deployable solar array PowerCube on the 3U PowerSat CubeSat. The productive meeting left us feeling even more excited to fly together in 2023. After the amazing event and meetings, DcubeD can’t wait to be back at the next CubeSat Developers Workshop!
